The highly anticipated 2023 Tata Harrier and Safari facelifts have made their grand debut, ushering in a wave of excitement among SUV enthusiasts. These mid-life updates come with a slew of exterior and interior styling enhancements and introduce a range of new features. To cater to diverse preferences and requirements, Tata Motors has introduced four new trims: Smart, Pure, Adventure, and Fearless, each offering multiple variants.
2023 Tata Harrier Smart: Exterior
Even as the base-spec trim, the 2023 Tata Harrier Smart boasts an impressive exterior design. It features the striking new connected LED daytime running lights (DRLs) at the front, complemented by sleek LED projector headlamps just below. The grille adopts an elegant black finish, while the skid plate shines in silver. Although it misses out on LED fog lamps and the ‘follow me’ function found in the one-below-top Adventure trim, it maintains a striking presence.
On the sides, the Harrier Smart retains the same 17-inch 5-spoke monotone alloy wheels seen in the outgoing model. Body-colored door handles and roof rails enhance its aesthetic appeal.
Moving to the rear, the Smart variant impresses with its connected LED taillight setup. The black bumper at the rear features a silver-finished skid plate. The Harrier Smart offers a choice of two exterior colors: Ash Grey and Lunar White.
2023 Tata Harrier Smart: Interior
Inside the cabin of the 2023 Tata Harrier Smart, a dark black theme predominates, accented by grey fabric seats for a touch of contrast. The cabin incorporates the updated styling, including sleek central AC vents with touch-sensitive climate controls beneath. Notably, it features the new 4-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated Tata logo.
While there is no central infotainment screen, the Harrier Smart equips a 7-inch digital driver’s display behind the steering wheel, a carryover from the pre-facelift model.
2023 Tata Harrier Smart: Features
Despite being the base variant, the Harrier Smart doesn’t compromise on essential and premium features. It includes fully automatic single-zone climate control, electrically adjustable outside rearview mirrors (ORVMs), height adjustment for the driver and passenger seats, all four power windows, rear AC vents, and Type-A and Type-C charging ports.
In terms of safety, the Harrier Smart impresses with its comprehensive package. It incorporates a tire pressure monitoring system, six airbags, ISOFIX child seat anchors, electronic stability program, hill hold control, traction control, ABS with EBD, and rear parking sensors right from its entry-level trim.
2023 Tata Harrier Smart: Powertrain
Under the hood, the 2023 Tata Harrier Smart retains its robust 2.0-liter diesel engine, delivering 170PS of power. It offers a choice of either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. However, as the base model, the Smart variant exclusively features the 6-speed manual gearbox. It boasts a claimed fuel efficiency of 16.8kmpl, while the automatic variant delivers 14.6kmpl.
2023 Tata Harrier Smart: Price
While the previous Tata Harrier’s price range spanned from Rs 15.19 lakh to Rs 24.26 lakh (ex-showroom), the 2023 model is likely to retain competitive pricing, with a starting price possibly matching that of its predecessor. As the variant lineup progresses, there may be slight price variations. The Harrier Smart will continue to compete with rivals such as the MG Hector, Mahindra XUV700 5-seater, and Jeep Compass, in addition to challenging compact SUVs like the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.
With its impressive blend of style, features, and performance, the 2023 Tata Harrier Smart is set to make waves in the competitive SUV segment.
