As an eco-conscious city dweller in India, I was eager to experience the much-awaited Tata Nexon EV Facelift 2024. Two months and 4,000 kilometers later, I’m here to share my honest review, highlighting its features, specifications, running costs, and the challenges of the Indian EV infrastructure.
Tata Nexon EV 2024 Facelift Features:
The Nexon EV Facelift boasts several improvements over its predecessor. The redesigned front grille, sleek LED headlamps, and new alloy wheels give it a modern and stylish look. The interior feels more premium, with a revamped dashboard featuring a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The system is responsive and user-friendly, offering features like Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and connected car functionalities.
Another significant upgrade is the 360-degree parking camera, which provides a clear view of the surroundings, making parking in tight spaces a breeze. Additionally, features like automatic climate control, cruise control, and a sunroof enhance the overall driving experience and comfort.
Specifications:
The Nexon EV Facelift retains the 350.8V battery pack and offers two electric motor options: a single motor producing 143 horsepower and a dual motor setup with 204 horsepower. I opted for the single motor variant, which delivers adequate power for city commutes. The claimed range is around 335 kilometers, which I found achievable in real-world driving conditions with moderate traffic.
Running Costs:
One of the most significant advantages of owning an electric car is the low running cost. Charging the Nexon EV at home is significantly cheaper than filling up a petrol car, especially with the current fuel prices in India. Additionally, the Nexon EV benefits from government subsidies and exemptions on road tax, further reducing ownership costs.
Challenges of Indian EV Infrastructure:
While owning an electric car in India offers several benefits, the lack of widespread charging infrastructure remains a challenge. Public charging stations are still scarce, especially outside major cities. This can be a concern for longer journeys, as planning charging stops becomes crucial. Additionally, the reliability of some public chargers can be an issue, leading to unexpected delays.
Overall Experience:
Despite the infrastructure challenges, owning the Nexon EV Facelift has been a positive experience. It’s a comfortable, feature-rich, and stylish car that’s perfect for city driving. The low running costs make it a financially sensible choice as well. However, it’s crucial to be aware of the limitations of the current EV infrastructure in India and plan accordingly, especially for longer trips.
