Land Rover Defender’s Remarkable Success in India: 1,000 Units Sold in Six Months
Jaguar Land Rover has reported its sales figures for the first half of the fiscal year 2024, and the numbers reveal a remarkable performance. The luxury carmaker has managed to sell a total of 2,356 units during this period, marking an impressive growth rate of 105%. A deeper look into these statistics unveils the shining star of Land Rover – the Defender.
Out of the reported sales figures, the Land Rover Defender alone contributed 1,000 units to the tally. The Defender, along with the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport, collectively accounted for 72% of the total order book in the first half of the fiscal year. This achievement becomes even more significant when considering the overall orders increased by an astonishing 90% compared to the same period in the previous year.
The Land Rover Defender’s appeal in India can be attributed to its versatility, with three body styles to choose from – the 90, 110, and 130. The model’s prices kick off at Rs. 1.11 crore (ex-showroom) for the entry-level variant. Adding to its allure, the Defender offers a range of engine options, allowing customers to tailor their driving experience. These options include a 2.0-liter petrol engine, a 3.0-liter petrol engine, a potent 5.0-liter V8 petrol engine, a robust 3.0-liter diesel engine, and an environmentally conscious 2.0-liter plug-in hybrid petrol motor.
The Land Rover Defender’s triumphant sales performance demonstrates that the iconic British off-roader has struck a chord with Indian consumers, drawing them with its rugged yet refined persona, variety of body styles, and diverse powertrain options. As the Defender continues to make a significant mark on the Indian luxury SUV landscape, it seems poised to maintain its impressive run in the months to come.
